About Us
Home Ownership for Personal Empowerment
HOPE's MISSION ...to create stable, affordable housing options for people with developmental disabilities.
Home Ownership for Personal Empowerment, or HOPE, Inc., works with Southern California Regional Centers by providing affordable housing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities who want to live independently in a supported living environment.
HOPE buys residential properties - single-family homes, duplexes and condominiums - and then renovates them in order to rent them at below market rates to clients of the Regional Centers. (The rents are usually no more than 30% of the renter's monthly income.) A special feature of these homes is that every resident has his or her own bedroom. Because the homes are owned by a corporation set up solely for this purpose, HOPE offers greater stability than most other community-based options.
HOPE is always expanding its real estate portfolio, renovating and upgrading existing properties and increasing its donor base and fundraising efforts. HOPE owns properties in Burbank, Torrance, Lomita, Artesia, Long Beach, Lakewood, Bellflower, Cerritos, Lomita, Los Angeles, Hawthorne, Northridge, Norwalk and North Hills. Presently over 100 adults with developmental disabilities live in HOPE's properties.
If you would like to reside in a HOPE property, please complete the application form that can be provided by the Regional Center counselor.
